Jim Fergason, President

President Jim Fergason, who came from Cottage Grove, now resides on his farm in Vancouver, Washington with his wife Jo and his kids. Jim has been training, racing and breeding thoroughbred horses in Oregon for about thirty-two years. Jim has been on the Oregon H.B.P.A. Board of Directors for the last nine years. He has served on many committees over the years.

Ron Sutton, Vice President

Vice President Ron Sutton who was born and raised here in Portland Oregon now lives in Wilsonville with his son Chris, his daughter Carrie and his grandson Michael. Ron has been a thoroughbred owner for ten years. Nine of those years he has served as a Director on the Oregon H.B.P.A. Ron has a family owned tire & chain business, Sutton's Tire & Chains located in two places in Portland.

Bob Wilson, Owner Director

Director Bob Wilson resides in Roseburg, Oregon with his wife Pat. Bob has been involved in thoroughbred racing here in Oregon for over nineteen years. Bob just been re-elected to the Board for the third time and has been selected as the Contract Committee Chairman. Before Bob's retirement in 1997 he was involved in so many things it's impossible to list them. However he was a negotiator extrodinaire.

Dick Cartney, Executive Director

Executive Director Dick Cartney has been involved in Horse Racing in many different aspects for over forty-five years. Dick started walking hots when he was a kid at Oaklawn Park, he later became an owner. Dick spent thirty one years writing for the Daily Racing Form. After leaving the Racing Form Dick became the Racing Secretary at Portland Meadows. He has been the Executive Director for the Oregon HBPA since late 1998. Dick makes his home in Vancouver, Washington with his wife Susie.
